Honda CR-V (sixth generation) The sixth-generation CR-V was officially unveiled on 12 July 2022, with mass production starting at Honda’s Alliston plant in Ontario, Canada in September 2022. It uses the Honda Architecture platform shared with the eleventh-generation Civic, and carries the RS chassis codes (RS3 and RS4 for petrol, RS5 and RS6 for hybrid). The five-door compact crossover rides on a 2,700 mm wheelbase and is offered in five and seven-seat configurations depending on the market. Australian sales began on 1 September 2023 with Thai-built cars in X, L, LX and RS trims, the 1.5-litre L15BE turbo petrol (139 kW at 6,000 rpm, 243 Nm from 1,700 to 5,000 rpm) across most of the range and the 2.0-litre e:HEV hybrid (152 kW total system output) exclusive to the RS. Seven seats were offered on X and LX, and all-wheel drive on L and LX. Petrol models use a CVT and hybrids an e-CVT, with front-wheel drive or Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System sending up to 50 per cent of torque to the rear wheels, and hill descent control appearing on the CR-V for the first time. ANCAP tested the model in 2024 at 88 per cent for adult occupant protection, 88 per cent child, 76 per cent vulnerable road user and 68 per cent safety assist.
