The second-generation CX-5 launched in Australia on 31 March 2017 with 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G petrol engines and a 2.2-litre Skyactiv-D diesel. All-wheel drive was standard on every trim except Maxx and Maxx Sport. A 2.5-litre turbo was added in November 2018. The January 2022 facelift cut the range from 16 variants to 12, the manual was dropped in October 2022 and diesel in October 2023. The facelift also brought wireless charging.

Trim levels: Maxx, Maxx Sport, Touring, GT and Akera at launch, with GT SP added in February 2021. The 2022 facelift dropped the GT and added Active.
