The third-generation Estima was introduced in 2006 and released in Australia as the Tarago in March 2006 with the 2.4-litre 2AZ-FE, joined by the 202 kW 3.5-litre V6 GSR50R in February 2007. It received a minor facelift in 2009, updates in 2012 that added smart entry and start plus automatic headlights, and a major refresh in 2016 that brought Toyota Safety Sense C in Japan and 360 degree UV cut glass. A hybrid using the second-generation Hybrid Synergy Drive and E-Four all-wheel drive was sold in Japan and China with limited importation to Australia, and the Tarago was discontinued locally as of March 2020 after the HiAce-based Granvia was revealed in May 2019.
