The Land Rover Defender was launched in 1983 as the One Ten, joined by the Ninety in 1984 and the One Twenty Seven in 1985, with all three renamed Defender 90, 110 and 130 in 1990. Body styles across the classic run included hard-top, soft-top, pickup, van and crew cab, powered over the years by 2.25 L and 2.5 L petrol and diesel engines, a 3.5 L V8, the 200Tdi and 300Tdi turbodiesels, the five-cylinder Td5 and later Ford DuraTorq 2.4 L and 2.2 L units, with production ending at Solihull on 29 January 2016 after 2,016,933 Series and Defender vehicles. The all-new L663 Defender arrived in 2020 with an aluminium monocoque body and independent suspension, offered in 90, 110 and 130 configurations with 2.0 L and 3.0 L engines, plus a 4.4 L twin-turbo V8 in the 2024 OCT.
