The third generation Alphard was released on 26 January 2015 with new 2.5-litre petrol and hybrid drivetrains alongside the carried-over 3.5-litre V6, plus a new Executive Lounge grade. The facelift was unveiled on 25 December 2017 and released on 8 January 2018, bringing slimmer LED headlights, a larger grille and second generation Toyota Safety Sense, though the changes were mostly exterior and powertrain with interior equipment largely unchanged.
